People Chant My Name

On February 22, 2012, 2 people came to an agreement. If Stephen Colbert would support the DISCLOSE Act, then Nancy Pelosi would encourage Democrats to come on Stephens "Better Know A District" segment. Stephen has supported DISCLOSE and therefore Stephen was honored to do a segment with Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan. He currently represents the 3rd District of Missouri which will become the 1st District in next election. I'm assuming that it got moved up to 1st place as a result of getting The Colbert Bump.

The two men talked about St. Louis, beer, corn, marriage and other important issues. Congressman Carnahan was able to keep up with Stephen and not be outshone. Kudos to him. (There's a reason why some members of Congress are afraid to be interviewed by Stephen Colbert, but Russ Carnahan is one of the brave members.

Stephen had a short segment about food. He complained about the FDA sitting around inspecting his meat. He complained about Meatless Mondays. And then he complained about people eating carrots, potatoes and watermelon. Well, people have different opinions on all of this. Hopefully some good can come out of all of this and by that I mean, when is Stephen going to write a cookbook?

Stephen's guest was Chris Hayes and while he did get dressed up for the interview, he did not look as fabulous as Stephen. Chris Hayes is host for Up with Chris Hayes, Editor At Large for The Nation, and wrote the book, Twilight of the Elites, America After Meritocracy. Stephen said that the future is bright, he has an iPad and that people chant his name. Chris Hayes doesn't wear a tie. But, there is a great song just waiting to be written by Woody Guthrie inside the verbosity of the book. Stephen suggested we all go out and buy it and read it. He thinks there might be vampires in it.
