10% Happier

Last night Stephen talked about Climate Change and how Tennessee plans on executing prisoners on death row.

So it was with much relief that his guest was Dan Harris, author of 10% Happier" How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works -- A True Story.

Reading that title meant that Stephen had almost no time left for the interview. But Dan Harris did tell Stephen and the audience members how to meditate.

1. Sit with your spine straight.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Concentrate on your breathing.

I always had trouble meditating. I would worry about all the things we worry about. Dan Harris talked about that. If your mind starts wandering, bring it back to just concentrating on your breathing.

Good advice. Everyone try it. You probably will be 10% happier.

Colbert on Vacation - Day Fourteen

Hey Y'all. Head on over to Tennessee. The Nashville National Folk Festival is going on right now. That alone should keep Stephen busy the whole time he's in Tennessee. Of course there's lots else to do in Tennessee. Do you think you would have to go to France to buy some wine? No, there are Wineries (and Distilleries and Microbreweries) in Tennessee that he could visit. And if Stephen gets hungry for good food, well, Tennessee is the Barbecue Capitol, so yummy yummy!

Perhaps Stephen is interested in the darker side of Tennessee. Well, he's in luck. There are plenty of caves for Stephen to explore. Or to see the prettier side of Tennessee, there's all sorts of gardens, forests and natural areas to enjoy while there.

But now that I think of it, his vacation is winding down. Has he bought any souvenirs for all of the Colbertians that are expecting a a memento of his travels? Not to worry, plenty of shops of all kinds for him to spend his hard earned money on clothes, antiques, arts and crafts, books, jewelry and more.

Anything else Stephen needs to know to have a great time in Tennessee he can find at the Tennessee Vacation website.
