321-781-9999

Rachel is apparently in Florida now. That's what the caller ID said when she called. And what a surprise to hear from her again since she always says it will be the last notice to get such a wonderful rate.

If you haven't looked at the other posts about telemarketers, you may not be aware of how often she calls. It always sounds urgent, that's because she says that it's urgent. Credit Card???? Final Notice???? Whaaaaaaaaaaaatttt? (Just check out some of the other phone numbers in Labels.)

Rachel keeps moving to different phone numbers. But she is always up to her old tricks. Don't buy into it. If it was a good deal, she wouldn't keep calling after claiming it was the final notice.

Here's an idea. I don't know if it works or not, but when Rachel is done talking, stay on the line. Wait until the operator talks about "If you want to make a call, hang up and try again. If you need assistance, hang up and then call your operator." Well, it's something like that. For sure hang up when the operator starts her recorded message, because soon that very loud and annoying  ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah will come on and scare the pants off you. But maybe, maybe, it keeps one of Rachel's phone lines tied up for a few seconds longer and she can't make quite as many telemarketing calls.

So, stay on line after Rachel talks, but hang up when you hear the operator talk.

This is just another service I offer to the readers here. You're welcome.

404-478-6372

This call was a recording from, if I remember correctly, Jennifer from ESG Research Group. It may have been ESC, but I'm pretty sure she said ESG. They just wanted me to take a short survey, and I think she may have said 30 seconds, and then I would win a 2-day Bahama Cruise. (All I would have to do was pay some fee and gratuities. No way of knowing how much that would cost!) And the survey, it was about debt or our country's debt. Not sure because she talked too fast and of course since it was a recording, I couldn't ask her to repeat anything. I should press "1" to continue or "9" to decline and be removed from their list.

Of course this is something you should decline. Too good to be true? You betcha! For one thing, you might have to fly to the Bahamas in order to get on the cruise ship. (Years ago on the old Magnum P.I. show, Magnum won the grand prize. He won a free flight to and from Hawaii.)

And the cruise ship, well it could be a 30 foot fishing boat. And it could be that you get to go on the cruise but you don't actually get a cabin or room or bed to sleep in. That might be one of the fees that you have to pay. Do you get to go on the cruise, but you have to wash dishes if you want to eat? Is someone really going to give away wonderful vacation opportunities to a bunch of people just for saying "Yes" or "No" or "Agree" or "Disagree" on some phone survey?

Caller ID is so nice. If you get a call from this number, ignore it. It's most likely way too good to be true.

513-241-5622

Ohio. That's what the Caller ID said and then this number was displayed: 513-241-5622. I always wonder whether or not I should even answer the phone when I don't recognize the caller. But you never know. It could be important.

But, it wasn't. Just a pitch to get a subscription to a newsletter. Was it for Franciscans, is that what she said?

"I'm not interested. "

Only $32 per year. Good articles. Inspirational. Blah blah blah. And they would then pray for me. Wow, I can buy influence with God! Shouldn't that be free? Shouldn't I just pray for myself since I would probably know exactly what I needed?

"I'm Not Interested. "

More blah blah blah and then she did hang up.

I wonder. If I had taken the subscription offer, would I get future mailings asking for more money? Would I get another call asking me to subscribe to their magazine next time? And then buy a book next time after that?

The best way to be assured of more telemarketer calls is to give in and buy what they offer just to make them go away. Hint: They never go away. They just keep coming back for more.
