You Want Proof?

I am way too busy. I won't get all my shopping done if I don't get out to the Mall. So, posts are likely to be abbreviated and by that I mean short and concise.

Sleep aids can have bad side effects. Prescott Pharmaceuticals has better ideas for sleeping.

Megyn Kelly of Fox News said Santa Claus and Jesus are white. However, Santa Claus was on Saturday Night Live last Saturday and he was black. That's all the proof I need. And Jesus, being born over in Bethlehem, well, he wasn't European, that's for sure.

George Packer was the guest talking about his book "The Unwinding - An Inner History of the New America." The book seems to be getting a lot of attention, but I would have thought they could have found a newer looking American flag for the cover. (You can read an excerpt from the book over at that link, for free!)

Your Honor, I Move We Adjourn

Stephen talked briefly about the important parts of Super Bowl XLVII, the Spinach Dip Bread Bowl at his party, the wide assortment of ads, and the fabulous Halftime Show with Beyonce. He was surprised at the quality and energy of the show however. Usually, in his opinion, the shows are of a more "sedate" nature with "older" talent. I assume he enjoyed the show this year though.

Speaking of younger talent, Stephen admitted he usually watches the Megyn Kelly Show on Mute. What brought up this tidbit was his discussion of the GOP and their current understanding that now that the election is over and Hispanics voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama instead of Whatshisname (Chip Ranchero?), they should be voting GOP. They have all the right values and so, they should forget all the negative stuff said about them and just vote for Republicans in the future. We will have to wait a while to see how that plays out.

We got to see what the differences are between a taping of the "The Colbert Report" and a session of the Supreme Court. Needless to say, Stephen's show is much more entertaining. During the interview with Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen was more subdued than he usually is. I figure that is probably because a Justice of the Supreme Court automatically is given a certain amount of respect because the Supreme Court is the highest court in the land. So naturally, you should treat a Justice with some dignity. "Be on your best behavior," is how my grandmother would have put it.

Sonia Sotomayor has a book out, actually two books, one of which is "My Beloved World." It's about her, which makes it an autobiography. There was brief discussion of Dred Scott. But then back to Sonia Sotomayor. She emphasizes that she and the other justices are just ordinary people. Also, if she can reach her dreams, so can other people.

Stephen seemed to have a checkmate situation while they were discussing political affiliation, but he couldn't quite pull off a win. He assumed with all her success and self reliance that she should be a conservative. But how would he know? Well, because Obama appointed her. But actually, she points out that she is an independent.

When asked what her most conservative belief is, she answered, "I believe in the Constitution." If that didn't win her a ton of points with Mr. Stephen Colbert, I don't know what possibly could. (But then there was a whole lot of discussion about who Stephen Colbert is or was or could be. That part was confusing to everyone!)

And as for the other book she wrote. Well that is, "Mi mundo adorado." I am looking forward to reading both books. I wonder which one I will like better.

I Am a Good Boy

If you care about democracy, and if you did not watch the show tonight, then you should go over to Colbert Nation and watch tonight's episode there. Here's why: Nat Geo Wild, Animal Planet, Stephen Colbert's South Carolina Serious, Classy Republican Debate and Cesar Millan. That should get you interested.

It's that time of year again and you know what that means. It's time for The Blitzkrieg on Grinchitude. Some large department stores are no longer wrapping gifts and Santa is sometimes encouraging kids to lower their expectations, but we get the idea that a long time ago, a certain little boy was heartbroken because he did not get the bike he wanted for Christmas. That's okay. Stephen has moved on since then.

Stephen took a break from reporting on the important news of the day to tell a funny story. Seems like over at FOX recently, Megyn Kelly ran a graphic of the Republican front runners. There was Mitt Romney in second place at 17.2% in the poll. However, if you look closely, you see that it is actually a photo of President Barack Obama. This was a good time for Stephen to throw in Sigmund Freud's name, and a photo of Megyn Kelly. In all fairness, FOX did realize the error and corrected the mix-up. In her explanation, Megyn Kelly clarified, "As it turns out, they are not the same guy."

Daniel Craig was the guest tonight. You may remember him from James Bond movies. (Stephen certainly does.) Not only is he in James Bond movies, he also is in the soon to be in movie theaters, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

The show just kept getting better and better. For one thing, there was a tense and intense arm wrestling competition and I won't spoil it by telling you who won. But the best of all things is Santa stopped by and left a wonderful present for Stephen. An extremely happy Stephen declared, "I am a good boy. I am a good boy."

We won't see Stephen again until 2012! Next year!! So, no more The Colbert Report for a while, but I will continue to post news, trivia, predictions, and whatever comes to mind. In no time at all, it will be 2012 and Stephen will be back. Hang in there.
