Harry Potter

I have often wondered why we can only see The Colbert Report four days a week and not five days like most shows that are on a "daily" schedule. That would basically make them a "Daily Show." I have finally determined why that is. Right from the very first time Stephen Colbert came into our homes and informed us of the national and international news, he had plans to stay up late on Thursday, July 14 so that he could go see the final Harry Potter movie at midnight on July 15. And thus he would be too tired on Friday to go to work. So rather than skip one show that week, the plan was just to always skip the Friday show. I can't really imagine any other reason to just have Monday through Thursday schedule.

So then we come to the movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2". First of all, I haven't seen it yet, so don't worry, no plot spoilers here. But, alas, this is the last of Harry Potter movies and last book. Fans are excited to finally see the movie, but sad that it's all ending.

But, don't despair. You can read the books over and over and watch the movies time after time. Some young folks have grown up always having Harry Potter to read. I do have some sympathy for them, but there will be something else that will come along that will intrigue them in much the same way that Harry Potter did.

Now, I'm hoping that on Monday's show, Stephen will show pictures of himself dressed as his favorite character, eating popcorn as he watches the movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2."
