Do Not Do It

After talking basketball and power saws, Stephen turned his attention to Valentine's Day or as he calls it:

Stephen Colbert's "Americone Dream Free from 5pm to 8pm at Participating Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shops Nationwide" Day. Oh, I hope I got the name of that right.

Apology: I did not see Ben and Jerry on The Colbert Report tonight. Perhaps Dylan Rattigan meant Stephen would talk about ice cream and that Ben and Jerry would not actually be on the show. So, if you were expecting to see Ben and Jerry, I do apologize. Maybe tomorrow night, but no more promises.

Anyway, Stephen sent Jimmy Fallon, his Eternal Enemy for Six Months, a really sweet Valentine's Day card. "My dearest Jimmiest," and it went on and on from there. Stephen sent it via Late Night Mail system which is a cute white bunny wearing a mail bag. One can only wonder what will happen when Jimmy gets the card. They are supposed to be Eternal Enemies until March 3rd.

Stephen's guest tonight was environmentalist Bill McKibben. He has led the effort to kill the Keystone Pipeline. He talked about oil and how profit in one of the things that keeps us drilling for more oil and using it when we could be using cleaner fuels. Stephen reminded him that the planet still turns. The interview was short, so you can go to Bill McKibben's website for more information and see photos from the enormous 350 EARTH project, or go to 350.org and be astounded by the photo of Stephen Colbert with the caption: Colbert Viewers: Go Straight to the Petition!

And yet Stephen told us very sternly, "Do Not Do It!" But I kind of think he really does want us to do it or why would his photo, his smiling photo, be right there on the website?

This is important. Go to 350.org and click on the photo of Stephen and sign the petition. What's at stake? Drinking water for millions of Americans across the Midwest. And more, much more.
