Job Opening

Apparently, one does not need to be a member of Congress to serve as Speaker of the House.

Could we all just think of that for a minute and what it means for our country? We all know there is someone who is perfect for the job. Young, but yet old enough to have seen all that life can throw at us. Handsome, but not the sort of person who boasts about it. Intelligent as we have seen demonstrated on a nightly (nearly nightly) basis.

Yes, I'm talking about you Stephen. Call John Boehner right now. Tell him you want the job. Everyone knows and loves you. You would win on the first ballot, probably getting bipartisan support! Bring Jon Batiste with and jazz up the place a little bit.

American needs you, Stephen. You can still keep your night job.

STC !

Okay, STC doesn't come off quite as good as JEB. But I did want a great title for this post and I do think that STC ! creates a lot of excitement.

Stephen's first show last night, Late last night, was great. There were moments that inspired awe, moments that inspired my jaw to drop, moments that inspired my foot to start tapping to the music. Lots of great moments. Lots of familiar faces and familiar voices. And Oreo cookies, lots and lots of Oreo cookies. Yummy. Stephen had a wedding gift for his very first guest, George Clooney. He had tough "gotcha" questions for John Ellis Bush. Everyone came out on stage and sang at the end.

And although we were sort of promised that Stephen would be himself and not some "character" I am jumping up and down with joy that we still see some of the lovable traits in Stephen that we all know are just part of who he really is.

Hurray for us and hurray for Stephen. It is so nice to have him back.

Stephen Colbert Day

Today is the day. Tonight is the night. The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

How long we have waited! If the The Colbert Report was still on the TV machine, would that Stephen Colbert give this Stephen Colbert the famous Colbert Bump? I think so. Will there be unexpected shenanigans on the show? Most likely there will be.

I am holding my breath until the show starts tonight. I don't think anyone will argue with my prediction for Stephen's first night as host of the The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

It will be HUGE.

David Letterman Day

Today is David Letterman Day in many places all around the Known Universe. And so in our house, the same holiday applies.

Get on board Hallmark. Start designing cards now so that next year you will be ready to go with a huge collection of cards. I'm assuming some will have music, but hopefully none will have glitter. Once you bring a glitter card into your house, it will keep showing up in your cereal no matter how much you vacuum the Cheerio's box.

Happy David Letterman Day everyone. Celebrate appropriately.

Much To Do About Nothing

Stephen's good friend, Jon Stewart, has announced that he is going to be leaving the The Daily Show. So that has taken a while for me to digest and accept. sigh.

There has been speculation about possible replacements and now we know it will be Trevor Noah. Yea!!! I think he will do a great job. He seems knowledgeable about the news happening in the nation and the world and that is the most important skill he will need to do the show.

Unfortunately, there has been some controversy, because what is the news today if not controversy???

So we will just have to wait and see if he gets confirmed by the Senate. He is going to be in Washington D.C. starting April 9 for what I can only assume are the Senate hearings. I'm sure that is at the top of the "To Do" list for the Senate. Once Trevor Noah is confirmed by the Senate, then he can take over for Jon Stewart.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Parker Rice

People should know better. All anyone has to do is search for a name on Google. Most of the time you will get multiple results. So for people to start harassing someone just because the name is the same and he is going to school in the same state as that Parker Rice is not very smart.

This is not the Parker Rice they are talking about.

Still Missing Stephen

That says it all. I am still missing Stephen. When I get all sad and misty eyed, I come back here and read through the old posts and it reminds me of all the fun times we had. Sigh. The only consolation is that we will get to see him later this year when he takes over for David Letterman.

And of course, knowing that we still have Jon Stewart on the The Daily Show. At least that is something we can always count on to lift our spirits and keep our hearts bright.
